'Peddi' shocks Japan fans

Global star Ram Charan’s upcoming pan-India sports action drama Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana, is carrying massive buzz ahead of its worldwide release on June 4. The film has generated strong excitement not just in India but overseas too, especially in Japan where Ram Charan enjoys a huge fan base after the blockbuster success of RRR. Fans in Japan were eagerly waiting to experience Peddi on day one alongside Indian audiences.

The makers were reportedly planning a simultaneous Japan release to cash in on Ram Charan’s growing international popularity. Japanese moviegoers and Indian fans living there were thrilled with the idea, expecting another grand theatrical celebration after RRR’s craze. But in a surprising last-minute development, the team is said to have dropped the same-day Japan release plans due to unavoidable reasons. As of now, Peddi will not hit Japanese screens on June 4, leaving fans shocked and disappointed.

Industry insiders believe a same-day Japan release could have boosted the film’s international box office in a big way. Starring Janhvi Kapoor as the female lead, the film also features Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu, Divyenndu and Boman Irani in key roles. With music by A. R. Rahman, Peddi continues to build strong hype — but the Japan postponement has now become an unexpected talking point around the film.
