Vijay Sethupathi Reveals What happens when one of Tamil cinema’s finest actors gets a close look at Superstar Rajinikanth’s working style? Vijay Sethupathi has now revealed an interesting behind-the-scenes moment involving Rajinikanth from the sets of Jailer 2 — and says it left a lasting impression on him.
Speaking at the audio launch of his upcoming film Baththa, Vijay recalled how Rajinikanth rehearsed a seemingly simple scene multiple times despite his enormous experience. Rajinikanth was supposed to fold a betel leaf while Vijay delivered his dialogues. According to Vijay, the Superstar carefully rehearsed the action five to six times to ensure that his movements perfectly matched Vijay’s dialogue timing. “I wish to be as dedicated in my work as he is,” Vijay said, describing Rajinikanth as the actor he has always admired with fascination.
Meanwhile, Baththa is generating curiosity with its recently released glimpse, “The World of Baththa.” Set in the 1980s, the film introduces Vijay Sethupathi in a rugged and intimidating role. His character appears to be a feared local ruffian whose return has an entire community on edge. Lijomol Jose plays the female lead, while Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanom fame Balaji Tharaneetharan directs the film. Presented by filmmaker Atlee, Baththa features music by Sai Abhyankkar and cinematography by Selvakumar S.K. The film is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on October 1, 2026.
