Rajinikanth’s much-awaited action entertainer ‘Jailer 2’ has officially cleared the censor process, with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) granting the Nelson Dilipkumar directorial a U/A certificate. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film stars Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead as the iconic Tiger Muthuvel Pandian. The production house confirmed the development on social media with the announcement, “#Jailer2 is censored U/A!” The certification comes soon after the makers unveiled the film’s highly anticipated trailer, which has further raised curiosity around the action-packed sequel.
The trailer sets up a mysterious hunt surrounding Tiger Muthuvel Pandian, with several characters desperately trying to discover his whereabouts and understand the force operating behind a series of developments. Initially, it appears that Muthuvel Pandian has disappeared, but the trailer reveals that he has deliberately gone off the radar by disguising himself as a driver. His plan is to stay undercover while tracing the chain of command and finding out whether the villains’ network extends to a much higher level. The trailer also showcases his deadly methods, including the use of snipers, while introducing S J Suryah’s character as one of the formidable opponents ready to strike back.
Alongside the intense action, ‘Jailer 2’ promises plenty of Nelson’s trademark humour and entertaining character interactions. A light-hearted exchange between Rajinikanth and Vidya Balan stands out, while the warning about the dreaded “Kalpaks” leads to another striking moment involving Muthuvel Pandian. The film is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on October 15, 2026, and expectations have been building steadily since its announcement. The makers wrapped up shooting in April this year and celebrated the milestone with a cake-cutting ceremony, signalling that the film has now entered its final stretch ahead of its big-screen arrival.
