Shakeela’s Phone Habit Ends in Surgery

Senior actress Shakeela has opened up about a painful health setback that she believes was linked to excessive smartphone use. She revealed that spending long hours lying in awkward positions while scrolling through Instagram and YouTube reels, playing games and remaining glued to her phone eventually led to a serious nerve-related problem in her neck. What began as a daily habit reportedly turned into a condition severe enough to require emergency neck surgery. Shakeela said she would often spend most of the day on her phone, taking only brief breaks for tea or coffee before returning to the screen.

The actress said the consequences have been physically and financially distressing, with the surgery reportedly costing around ₹3 lakh. She described the recovery period as extremely difficult and said she currently needs assistance even for basic activities such as getting out of bed and eating. Turning her personal experience into a cautionary message, Shakeela urged people to cut down their screen time and avoid using smartphones excessively, particularly while lying in unhealthy postures for extended periods. She also appealed to parents to limit children’s dependence on smartphones and other gadgets, warning that unchecked screen habits could contribute to serious health problems later in life.
