The makers of director Rahul Sankrityan’s much-awaited period action drama Ranabaali, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, have revealed that the background score for the film’s first half has been completed. With post-production progressing smoothly, the team is confident of wrapping up the film well ahead of its scheduled theatrical release on October 16, 2026.
The makers shared the update on social media, assuring fans that the film is on track for its grand Dussehra release. The project is being mounted on a massive scale and is set against a British-era backdrop, promising a visually rich period action experience rooted in historical events.
Rashmika plays Jayamma, the wife of Vijay’s character Ranabaali. Director Rahul Sankrityan recently revealed that he named the character after his own mother. He said he wanted Jayamma to be a strong and inspiring woman despite belonging to another era, adding that Rashmika brought the character to life in a way that made her unforgettable.
Vijay and Rashmika reunite for the third time after Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar, with T-Series presenting the film, Ranabaali also features Arnold Vosloo as the antagonist Sir Theodore Hector. Set in the 19th century and inspired by real incidents, the film is being positioned as a pan-India period action drama rather than a conventional biopic or textbook retelling.
