Hyd hit ₹100 Cr Property Tax in 1 Day!

A recent surge in property tax collections has led to a record-breaking Rs 100 crore being collected in a single day across the municipal corporations in the Telangana core urban region.

Previously, daily collections were averaging between Rs 3 crore and Rs 5 crore, but the enforcement drive and the ongoing one-time settlement (OTS) scheme have led to a significant increase in revenues. The recent spike saw collections reaching Rs 20 crore on Sunday, Rs 50 crore on Monday, and over Rs 100 crore on Tuesday, bringing the cumulative collections to around Rs 2,500 crore. This surge can be attributed to various measures like the sealing of high-value commercial properties, intensified field-level efforts, and issuing notices to non-compliant property owners. GHMC officials have noted a marked improvement in compliance due to these measures. The momentum is expected to continue, with civic bodies projecting collections of nearly Rs 120 crore in a day in the coming week.

Additionally, GHMC commissioner RV Karnan has encouraged citizens to take advantage of the early bird scheme by paying property tax in advance for the 2026–27 financial year, offering a 5% rebate to those who clear their full property tax in April. It's important to note that the rebate applies only to advance payments for 2026–27 and not to pending dues from previous years.

This proactive approach aims to benefit property owners while boosting tax collections for the municipal corporations.
