Kannada star Yash has reportedly chosen not to dwell on the underwhelming box-office response to Toxic, leaving the film’s fate firmly in the hands of its audience. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the high-budget action thriller opened amid considerable expectations and recorded a strong start, but its momentum reportedly faded in the days that followed. While trade circles suggested that the film’s earnings fell short of expectations, Yash and the team largely stayed away from public discussion about its performance. Now, dubbing supervisor Jayadev Mohan has opened up about his conversations with Yash after the release, offering a glimpse into the actor’s mindset. According to Jayadev, he spoke to Yash twice over the phone and admitted that the reviews and audience response had left him emotional. Yash, however, reportedly urged him not to overthink the outcome and stressed that the film should ultimately be left to the viewers to judge.
Jayadev said he could sense the disappointment behind Yash’s words, especially after the team had invested years in the project, but maintained that the audience’s verdict is what matters most. He also revealed that he had heard an early version of the story nearly four years ago, while several elements and versions evolved before the film was finally completed. Reflecting on the response after its release, Jayadev acknowledged that he too was emotionally affected, but rejected the idea of blaming audiences if a film fails to connect. According to him, simply believing that a movie has been made well is not enough—the real test is whether viewers accept it. He stressed that filmmakers must respect that verdict rather than claim that audiences failed to understand their work. For Yash and the Toxic team, the message appears clear: the film has been made, its journey is now with the audience, and there is little value in looking back when there is still plenty of work ahead.
