The Telangana High Court has demanded the state government establish a robust mechanism to prevent colleges from withholding certificates over unpaid fees. Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin grilled officials about the lack of safeguards for students, urging the minorities welfare department to implement a grievance redressal system to protect vulnerable students from coercion.
The court's intervention follows a public interest litigation by ASEEM and the Students Islamic Organisation, highlighting the plight of students who are unable to afford fees and face legal hurdles to obtain their certificates. The bench has given the finance department two weeks to clarify the status of pending scholarship bills.
